Abstract
Sports performance is shaped by the interaction of physiological capacity, training quality, recovery, and nutritional support. A well-planned intake of carbohydrates, protein, fluids, electrolytes, and certain micronutrients enhances exercise capacity, delays fatigue, supports recovery, and helps athletes sustain training loads over time, according to evidence from major sports nutrition position stands and endurance-focused reviews. Aerobic energy generation, muscle glycogen availability, hydration, thermoregulation, and neuromuscular resilience all play a major role in endurance, which is the capacity to exercise and withstand exhaustion for extended periods of time. Through a review-based discussion of energy systems, macronutrient and fluid requirements, timing techniques, supplements, and useful applications for athletes and coaches, this paper investigates the role of nutrition and endurance in sports performance. The paper argues that nutrition is a crucial performance factor rather than an add-on to training, particularly in sports that require consistent effort, rapid recovery between sessions, and sustained work output.
